What happens in a lesson?
I offer one-to-one lessons in a lovely room in my home in Worcester, dedicated to teaching the Alexander Technique. In a lesson you will receive some gentle hands-on guidance and some verbal instruction. Some time will be spent exploring the everyday activities of sitting and standing and some time will be spent with you lying, fully clothed, on a table in semi-supine (or 'active rest') while my hands gently invite your musculature to release some of its unnecessary tension.
I am also happy to explore with you any specific activity of your choice. A few examples include walking, playing a musical instrument, giving a speech and working at a computer.
The lessons provide an opportunity to become aware of harmful patterns of muscular tension and an opportunity to respond differently to a stimulus instead of habitually.
The result is a calm, centred alertness, more freedom of movement, enhanced wellbeing and improved posture.
How much do lessons cost?
Lessons cost £45 each and last between 40 and 45 minutes.
A block of 10 lessons can also be purchased in advance for £405 (a saving of 10%).
You will remain fully clothed throughout, so please wear comfortable clothes, including socks.
Please note that I appreciate 24 hours notice of cancellation of a lesson, otherwise the full cost of the lesson may be charged.
Lessons are held at 3 Seymour Avenue, Worcester WR3 7LT.
